Jewel Loom Amulet Seed Bead Pouch

Hello…hello! Martha Richardson here and I’m so excited to be posting my very first blog post as a new member of the Positively Me Design Team. Today I would like to share with you a Jewel Loom project that I designed around a lamp work bead from my personal collection. I am a lover of anything to do with water, ocean or the sea and I chose this lampwork bead because of the colors and design.

Here is a the finished necklace but I would like to tell you that this piece was so hard to photograph because of the white beads and sparkly crystals. I finally gave up after running around the inside and outside of my home trying to find a better lighting situation…oh my!

BEFORE I added the lamp work bead. For the base of this piece I used 8/0 Myuki Seed Beads in Gilt Lined White Opal, crystal beads and assorted colors of 11/0 Drop Seed Beads. I strung the Jewel Loom with Beadalon Wildfire Thread in .15mm Frost.

AFTER  the lamp work bead was added and more assorted colors of 11/0 Drop Seed Beads added  to complete  the base. I attached the 2-1/2″ by 3-1/2″ piece to a white felt pouch that I created.

For the necklace I chose white opal crystal briolettes with assorted colors of crystal beads, drop seed beads and Swarovski crystals. Now I’m going to admit my mistake here…I didn’t have enough beads to make the necklace long enough to just place over my head. I need either more beads or a clasp  and I will rework it.

Thank you for stopping by an spending some time with me. I’ll be back next month to share another project with you.

Have a creative weekend!
