Finding Me:Scrapbooking From the Heart

I appreciate so many of Julianna’s word… her message for us women to embrace who we are and truly love ourselves, flaws and all.  As women (sorry guys… LOL!) we all have our inner struggles. We all spend time trying to find who we are and what we stand for. We have trouble accepting ourselves for who we are, flaws and all. We aim for perfection… for some ideal that we have dreamed up in our minds. We compare ourselves to other women and constantly feel that we don’t measure up. We all struggle with these things… with insecurities.  Life is a journey of self discovery…  of finding me.

Today I have a scrapbook page to share with you that I created sharing my struggle, Trying to find who I am. I used Julianna’s new Jewel Flowers and Flourishes die set from Spellbinders. I also used the word Journey from the Jewel Keys set.

FINDING ME

In creating this page, I used some beautiful papers from Glitz Designs LOVE GAMES collection. I was looking for a color scheme that screamed beautiful, elegant and strong. I wanted strong contrast which I achieved with the black and white. I also added some torn paper to add a feel of whimsy, of imperfection… of rough edges. The beautiful flowers and flourishes were layered to give dimension and depth. The beautiful flower centers are buttons from  Jenni Bowlin add that bit of sparkle… that something extra that makes us all shine! I used Spellbinders beautiful new LF-015 Grand Decorative Circles One dies as well as their S4-354 Splendid Circles set. I die cut the photo using Standard circles LG and sanded the edges.  My journaling was computer written and cut into strips.

My journaling reads… “Who am I? What do I like? What do I want? What are my goals? What are my dreams? This is my journey … finding me. Not me as a Mom, wife, friend, daughter, designer… But the real me, deep inside.  I’m working on realizing that my wants and dreams are ok… they are allowed.  They are part of what makes me ME… and that’s exactly who I want to be.”

I used copper core engraving paper from Royal and Langnickle for my word JOURNEY and the ribbon banner under the photo. I ADORE this product!! It looks black when you cut it. I cut and embossed the pieces and then took a sanding block to it. In doing that, it exposed the copper core! You have to give this stuff a try! You will love it!

I want to encourage you to spend some time documenting your feelings, whether you scrapbook or not. Not only is it therapeutic for you, it can also be an encouragement to someone else… just to know that someone else has the same struggles… Thanks Julianna for inspiring me… always. ((HUGS))

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Until next time…

Happy Creating!

Tina

Tina, it is awesome! Love all that you have done here and the journey to finding yourself can be a life time long search – an old cliche – been there, done that! I now know who I am in Christ. I was a wife, twice; a mother, twice; a daughter, a best friend, and anything anyone needed me to be, but myself. Another truth is ‘be true to yourself!’ Thanks for a great page.
