Today I have a small journal to share. I’ve made a beaded band with the Jewel Loom to dress up the front cover. Perfect for a gift!
I often add a personal note or a stamped verse to personalize it. I found this journal at Oriental Trading. It’s plain white with a fabric cover and very inexpensive.
Here’s how to dress it up!
Attach WildFire thread to Jewel Loom with 8 warp threads. Weave seed beads so that there is 1 between edge warp threads, then 2 between next warp threads, 1 bead, 2 beads and 1 bead at opposite edge – 10 beads in first row. Three sections have 2 beads between warp threads. Repeat for row 2. On Row 3 use copper bugle bead in place of 2 seed beads – 7 beads. Continue this pattern until desired length of band.
Weave threads at end of beads. Apply Super Glue to weaving. Wrap Scor-Tape around threads.
Cut threads to remove band from Jewel Loom. Use WildFIre thread to attach “believe” charm and seed beads.
Spray Journal cover with Seven Seas and Lime Twist mists. Stamp scroll pattern with blue ink over cover. Allow to dry or dry with heat gun
Fasten one end of bead band to inside cover with Scor-Tape. Dot glue on cover along position for bead band and fasten other end of band to inside cover. Add more glue over thread ends
Cut paper to fit inside book cover. Mist with Lime Twist. Apply Xyron adhesive to back. Fasten inside front and back covers. Stamp verse on first page. Glue folded ribbon in spine for book mark
I hope I’ve inspired you to try the Jewel Loom and bead weaving! It’s really quite simple!
