About.com Story

At About, we strive to make finding accessible, quality information – on almost every topic – as easy as a simple search. Founded in 1996 as The Mining Company, we slowly transformed into the About you know and love today. Starting with nearly 700 Experts and 50 employees, we changed our name to About.com in 1999 and became one of the premiere search and information sites following the mid 90’s dot-com boom.
Today we have nearly 1,000 Experts that write for About.com. We’re one of the most visited sites on the Internet with over 25% of the U.S. visiting us each month. We help our users discover, be inspired, and learn about topics ranging from parenting and healthcare to cooking and travel. We focus on providing high-quality information specifically tailored to our users’ interests.
2014 is proving to be a big year for us. We’ve grown to nearly 170 employees with offices in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. Later this year, you’ll see a whole new About.com. Watch our CEO, Neil Vogel as he talks about these exciting changes.

jewels…..i am doing a happy dance for you!!! congrats on your newest endeavor!!!! it doesn’t surprise me one bit that you are getting involved with beading for children. i love their amazement when you tell them they are done with a project and they put it down and look at it. they always seem so surprised that they made that!!! it also makes them happy if they make it as a gift to give to a parent or sibling!!! i can’t be happier for you jewels…you deserve the best of everything!!!

much love and many blessings!!! jeannie xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox
